27 Feb A sun-soaked riverside lunch
A spot reminiscent of sun-drenched holidays in France with outside tables and canopies, shade from large trees and the backdrop of yachts on the river, Banana Wharf at Warsash is an unexpected gem.
The restaurant and bar sits on the east bank of the Hamble River, at Universal Marina, with access to easy, scenic walks to work up an appetite, whatever the weather.
Outside is dotted with cosy sofas, strings of golden lighting, massive roaring firepits, and intimate tables for everything al fresco. Inside the vibe is informal, modern and relaxed – much like the food.
We often go as a group as there’s lots of choice on the menu to accommodate everyone from Great Grandma to little ones. There are hand stretched sourdough pizzas, salads, pasta, ribs, Asian, fish, fajitas, steaks, burgers and the best Nachos you will ever try.
Breakfast is delicious, eaten outside in the warmer months, and in the colder months there’s a Sunday roast. It’s a dog-friendly spot and there’s a special kid’s menu with a sizeable selection – pizza, pasta and the classics finished off with dessert.
The Warsash Banana Wharf is newest addition to the Banana Wharf family. It is the third site – with two others located at Ocean Village Marina and Port Hamble Marina. All three sites have seasonal specials which can be enjoyed while soaking up comings and goings of the lively marina – something we could watch all day.
