07 Apr If you love to walk the beach
If you love a proper beach walk, then this three-mile walk along Meon Shore from Hill Head is one to try. It’s about three miles and all coastline.
Park at Salterns Car Park PO14 3LU at the bottom of Crofton Lane in Stubbington where parking is free.
Then walk along the shingle beach towards Titchfield in front of the coastal houses that line the beach. You walk past the back of the Osborne View pub with its views over the Solent and large pub garden where a pint and a packet of crisps could be an incentive for the end of your walk.
Titchfield Haven is dotted with yachts and the RSPB nature reserve is stunning, a twitcher’s paradise.
Although Meon Road turns away from the beach at the edge of the Haven you can walk along further, past the rows of holiday beach huts and along the bottom of the coastal cliffs which have more of a Jurassic coast than Hampshire feel.
When you’ve had enough it’s time to turn back – you could choose to walk the road rather than the shingle – there are some stunning houses on Cliff Road and a lovely café called Breezes opposite the Osborne View if coffee and a slice of cake is your thing.
